Jamaica Tae Kwon-Do team tours Japan
The Jamaica Tae Kwon-Do team won the Tri-Asian Cup during a Friendly Tournament with Japan and the Philippines which was held on August 19, 2006 at the Gifu Memorial Deai Dome, Gifu, Japan.
The team also received the Jamaica-Japan Friendship Cup, as well as a share of the Busta Gold Cup.

Reggae Sunsplash in Japan 2006
Reggae Sunsplash returned to Japan on August 19, 2006 after a nine-year absence. A large and enthusiastic crowd filled the Yokohama Minatomirai New Port Pier and enjoyed the performance of Jamaican musicians Kiprich, Shaggy, Wayne Wonder, Freddie McGregor, Luciano and Jimmy Cliff.
